Tribute Program

   Our tribute card program honors a selection of local Jewish artists who have made a significant contribution to cultural arts in the Jewish community. For an $18 donation, this program gives you the opportunity to honor someone’s special occasion with a card featuring a local Jewish artist and a donation that supports a variety of JCC program areas.

We greatly appreciate your support in helping the JCC grow stronger as a thriving community center.  Todah Rabah (Thank You) for allowing us to continue to provide a welcoming home that enriches the lives of thousands of people in our community.

Here are the following card options:

Tablet2Tablet1Lorraine Fink is a painter and print maker with a BFA and MFA from Old Dominion University.  She has exhibited her art in many museums including the Virginia Museum of Art, the Chrysler and the Smithsonian.  Her “Seven Days of Creation” is displayed at the Simon Family JCC.   Her featured tablets entitled Shabbat Celebration exemplify feminine symbols and ceremony associated with Shabbat. 

 

 

 

 

 

tleon1-webTelsa Leon received her BA in Studio Art from Old Dominion University.  She has been a participant in numerous juried shows, including the Irene Leach Show at the Chrysler Museum.  She has a painting hanging in the permanent collection in the Law School at the University of Virginia.  The painting on the reverse side entitled Community is on permanent display at the Simon Family JCC and reflects Leon’s commitment to Jewish peoplehood and cultural arts and makes reference to all those whose efforts brought the Sandler Campus and Simon Family JCC to fruition.

 

 

ArleneKesser-webArlene Berman Kesser, a Norfolk native, has been active in the Arts since 1959. She is a recipient of many art awards including “Best in Show” at the Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show and is a graduate of ODU, Sum Cum Laude in Fine Arts. This painting, Joseph’s Coat on permanent display at the Simon Family JCC reflects her eye for vibrant colors and strong commitment to Jewish values.

 

 

mfine-webMatthew Fine is a lifelong resident of Hampton Roads and a fourth generation member of Ohef Sholom Temple.  His work entitled Spirit Gate, made of cast glass and granite, symbolizes the opportunity for spiritual awakening for those willing to enter through the gate., His journey of exploring form and materials have allowed him to show his work in museums and galleries throughout the country. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

abraham-webAnne Abraham, the Simon Family JCC’s youth artist, dreams of traveling to Israel and has always possessed a love and interest in Judaism.  This particular rendition, entitled The Fruit of Our Life, symbolizes for Anne the fruit bearing trees in the Garden of Eden which held both the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge.
