We’d love to see you and your little one in the Strelitz Early Childhood Center`s Beginnings program. It’s the perfect place to bond with your baby and make lifelong friends! Designed to help and support you through the first years with your little one, Beginnings offers a variety of enrichment classes and programs for parents and children from birth to 36 months old. It’s never too early to begin inspiring Jewish journeys. That’s why the Beginnings program features Jewish values in a nurturing Jewish environment.

Beginnings Day Out
(Ages 16 months and up)
This program is our “Parents’ Morning Out” for toddlers able to walk and feed themselves. The goals of Beginnings Day Out are to help children grow as individuals, learn to separate from parents, and join in a small group for positive play and learning in a Jewish nurturing environment.

Toddler Full Care
(Ages 16 months and up)
August 22, 2011 through June 15, 2012 (Continues in summer through JCC summer camp)
An extension of our Beginnings Day Out, this is a full day program from 7:30AM to 6PM. Children will enjoy our learning enriched environment while interacting with other children. No Potty training required!
5 day/Monday through Friday: 7:30AM – 6PM, $225/Week

Tiny Tot Hootenanny & Playtime
(Babies of All Ages)
Mondays, 11:30am–12:00pm
This popular class is for babies and tots of all ages and their parents. Enjoy singing, clapping, swaying, and dancing to the fun and happy music of Cindy Kays, Strelitz Early Childhood Center Music Teacher.

Baby’s First Playgroup
(Babies of All Ages)
Tuesdays, 9–10am
Babies and their parents enjoy quality time together with exploration, songs, snack, craft and playtime. It’s like playschool with a caregiver and a great way for parents to make new friends too! Children who participate in this playgroup generally have a much easier transition into our Beginnings Day Out program.

Mommy, Me, & Duplo Too!
Mondays, 9:30AM - 10:15AM
Watch your toddler’s eyes light up as they dig into a pile of brightly colored DUPLO® bricks to create fun, simple structures all the while enhancing their fine-motor skills. The BrickHeadz Mommy and Me curriculum introduces age-appropriate concepts for little learners such as counting and patterning, recognizing colors and shapes, ordering, positional words, and more. Each class starts with a story, song or finger-play related to the theme of the day, and ends with freestyle playtime!

Chai Baby Holiday Party
(Babies of All Ages)
Celebrate the Jewish holidays with your baby at the Simon Family JCC. We will do some parent education on the holiday, learn a song, hear a story and do a craft.

(Every Friday the JCC Preschool is open during the school year)
Welcome Shabbat with old friends and new. Light the candles, have challah and sing songs. For parents, caregivers, grandparents and children.
Cost per Shabbat: $5 (JCC Members free)

If you are a parent of a new baby or know someone who is, please register for this fantastic gift basket filled with Jewish themed toys and resources. The Chai Baby Basket program is funded by the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater through an anonymous donor.
Baby Ambassadors
If you are a new parent looking to meet other new parents or if you are an experienced mom who would like to help welcome new parents to our community, please call 321-2332 about becoming a Baby Ambassador. This is a rewarding opportunity to reach out to new parents and help them become involved and supported through the challenging first years of their baby’s life.
